The area
Older neighborhoods, smarter pools
Loop 610 South is where Houston's older inner-city neighborhoods live — Montrose, Midtown, Museum District, and West University. Many homes here date to the early 20th century, often with original or near-original backyards. Pool work in this region is dominated by renovations to mid-century, 70s, and 80s pools, and the occasional tight-lot new build.
West University and parts of Montrose have larger, more established lots that allow full pool builds. Midtown and Museum District tend toward smaller footprints, where plunge pools, cocktail pools, and compact lap pools dominate. Either way, the pool has to fit a specific yard and an established home — there is no template.
